IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, is the CB radio of the Internet. After installing a software program called an IRC client, you can tap into any of thousands of “channels” to chat with the people there, or start your own channel. “Chat” is typing on the keyboard, not actual voice communication. IRC is one of the most interactive and least intuitive areas of the Internet, so it will pay off to read a bit about IRC before you take the plunge. |
