A computer virus is a nasty computer code that can infect your system. It can be fairly benign -- only displaying an unwanted message -- or it can destroy the entire contents of your hard drive. Viruses can either be introduced through an infected floppy disk, CD, or DVD or through a program that you have downloaded from the Internet, a BBS or some other online source.
Your defense against viruses should be:
  • Learn more about viruses.
  • Install a reputable virus checker, update it monthly and use it.
  • Only download programs from reputable sources
  • NEVER use a floppy disk, CD, or DVD in your computer without checking it.
