Alamo PC Needs Your Help!
If you want Alamo PC to be there for you tomorrow
You must get involved today!
|
| Members often state a reluctance to volunteer
because they think you have to be a Computer Expert, but nothing could
be further from the truth! Alamo PC has Volunteer opportunities to fit
every skill level, from beginners to experts.
As a non-profit, educational organization, Alamo PC Organization Inc.'s,
success or failure is dependent on the dedication and volunteer work of
its members. Alamo PC's volunteers have helped the organization to
achieve success as the second largest PC User Group in the United States.
However, there is always more to do and new volunteers are always needed.
If you can answer the phone, send faxes, make copies, take messages off
of voice mail, or put on a friendly face at a trade show,
you
can make an important contribution to the continued success of Alamo
PC. |

|
| No matter what your skill level, areas of interest
or availability there are always opportunities to contribute. Here are
some of the things you might want to help with, descriptions and contact
information are listed below: |
|
Volunteer Telephone or E-mail Help Numbers:
|
| Help numbers when you need them the most.
Members who have some familiarity with a particular software application, Operating System, or type of hardware, are encouraged to serve on the Volunteer Telephone or E-mail Help Committee. Most users requesting help have very basic questions. By volunteering, you not only help others, but you can learn from the experience and also get a good feeling doing it.
Take a look at the "Help Numbers" directory in the PC Alamode
to see the subjects currently covered. If there is a subject that you are
interested in that is not listed, we can add it. If you can help with a
title currently showing only one volunteer, your assistance would be greatly
appreciated. Committee members are listed in the monthly
PC Alamode
Magazine with either a phone number or e-mail address and specific days
of the week and times of day that members may contact them for assistance.

Instructors and
Assistants:
|
| Alamo PC offers Classes or Study Groups, as instructors and space becomes available. These classes may cover subjects such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, WordPerfect, the Internet, plus
several others.
We are also looking for instructors to teach short term (one to three
sessions) on specific topics such as, scanners, buying a new computer,
trouble shooting computer problems, etc.
If you have expertise in a particular software application and enjoy teaching, this may be the opportunity for you.
If you have only a basic familiarity with a software application one good way to gain more knowledge is by volunteering as a teaching assistant.
