Well, we are officially moved in. We had our first classes in our new Resource Center located at Crossroads Mall on Monday, May 7th. Alamo PC Organization has our 2 labs up again as well as our office area and storage area. There is still some unpacking and setting up to do but we are excited to be in business again. We look forward to being even more productive in our new home than before.
As with most moves there was a lot of work to
be done — packing, cleaning, transporting, unpacking, and setting up. With
our move to Crossroads we also would have some remodeling to do in order
to have 2 labs and some storage area again. There were walls to be built.
We would also have to cable the area for our network to be up and running.
With all this work ahead, Alamo PC Organization would need the aid of volunteers.
We asked for help and the volunteers came. You know the saying “build it
and they will come”, well it was more like “ask for help and they will
come”. A lot of the volunteers came with a wealth of knowledge, which was
good, because a few of us needed some direction. I for one had never in
my life hung, taped or floated drywall (sheetrock) but I learned (although
I hope the knowledge and the sore back go away soon) and all of this was
due to some amazing people. We would like to thank some of the project
leaders such as Dennis Spencer (excellent carpenter), Dale Swafford (everything
you can think of person), John Woody (cabling/network god), Joe Brazell
and Larry Grosskopf (foremen for our crews and good ones). We would terribly
remiss though if we did not send a huge thank you to the person whom definitely
put in the longest hours and knew the best direction of what to do, Linda
Bianchi, you are most invaluable to Alamo PC Organization and us. A thank
you should also go out to all the spouses for allowing our volunteers to
spend the hours they did at this job. Most definitely though we need to
say a warm and hearty thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for
the jobs well done, the smiles and the “what can I do next” attitudes.
(If I miss your name, please let me know because we want to recognize you.)

We couldn’t do it without you!
By Joe Barth, Treasurer
The support that came from the membership in supporting
the move of the Resource Center was magnificent and showed that the people
of Alamo PC Organization will be there when they’re needed. The following
people contributed money for the move and related expenses — more than
$2,000 as of this writing. Thank you so much and if I missed your name,
please let me know by e-mail or phone. The names are in no particular order
and the amount donated doesn’t matter since every donation is gratefully
received.
