At the Alamo PC Organization June meeting (6/10), a plea for board member candidates was made. Since I was asked to serve and became the last minute floor nominee (the seventh candidate for one of the seven positions), what are my chances? (I think you can easily do the math!) Unless another candidate was added, I will probably be recommended by the current Board of Directors, and if confirmed by member votes, would probably be allowed to serve without a biography being published. But, since I was asked to provide one, and Clarke Bird usually needs material for the next issue not later than the 10th of the month preceding publication, I agreed to provide a brief one.

Also, since I prefer privacy over notoriety, I will just cover the basics and hope that will help my confirmation by members, during the voting that will soon follow. So, here goes:

Grew up a little southwest of San Antonio; Graduated from a local High School, which no longer exists; obtained a college degree and university advanced degree; served in a branch of the US armed forces; worked for several local companies; currently serve in an advisory capacity to several for-profit and non-profit organizations; member of Alamo PC since 5/9/91; volunteered to help Alamo PC in various ways and at various events; have been around computers since about 1978 (knowledgeable, still learning, and far from being an expert); married with two grown and married children, plus one granddaughter; enjoy learning new things; and willing to work.

If that biography doesn't get me confirmed, then there is obviously an additional person on the list who is more qualified to serve the organization. When I see the rest of the biographies, and determine who the he or she is, that candidate will certainly get my vote also.
